You love cooking shows, preparing meals for friends and family, and trying new foods whenever you can. You want to be a chef, but random cooking clips or online tutorials don’t give you the opportunity to ask questions or give you an idea of working in a real-world kitchen. The Chef Apprentice School of the Arts Pro Series 1 Program gives you a professional kitchen experience along with online learning to create a cohesive learning experience.

You’ll start the program in the professional kitchen of your mentor, learning one-on-one the basics of kitchen processes. This is an immersive experience that just isn’t possible in a classroom or test-kitchen environment. You’ll also work from home, preparing recipes from your mentor, making a digital culinary portfolio, and presenting what you’ve learned during the program.

Identify/describe a variety of knives and other tools and their uses as well as types of refrigeration.

Learn the three main menu types, understand “standardized recipes,” and measure ingredients.

Build Your Culinary Skills and deep dive into our Cooking Basics Program

From preparing the kitchen for cooking, honing your knife skills, and creating sauces and soups, your mentor will guide you on a journey to beginning a career in the culinary arts. and more. This eight-week program will focus on proper safety and sanitary steps in the kitchen to prepare you for an entry-level position within a restaurant or food establishment as a prep cook.

At the end of the program, you’ll have prepared a series of recipes, proven your knife proficiency, and exhibited proper kitchen processes. You’ll even put what you’ve learned from your mentor to good use by writing a restaurant review as part of your final presentation. This initial program will act as a base for the following Pro Series Programs.

The Pro Series 1 Program is eight weeks, including two in-person courses in your mentor’s kitchen and six virtual courses that are performed at home.

We pride ourselves on giving access to all of our programs to those who want to enroll. Pro Series 1 is a beginner’s program so prior kitchen experience or training is not necessary.
